BoardEffect (which was eventually acquired by the Diligent empire) operates in a completely different, highly specific sector: the Non-Profit and Healthcare Foundation space. While corporate boards focus intensely on stock prices and SEC regulations, non-profit boards have entirely different, highly nuanced governance structures involving massive volunteer committees. It excels at managing the "Committee" structure. A massive hospital board might have a Finance Committee, a Medical Ethics Committee, and a Fundraising Committee. BoardEffect allows the administrator to spin up highly isolated digital "workrooms" for each committee, ensuring that the Fundraising members cannot accidentally view the highly sensitive documents belonging to the Medical Ethics group. It also heavily streamlines the grueling process of creating the "Board Book." Historically, creating the massive packet of reports for a quarterly meeting required an admin to stand by a copy machine for three days. BoardEffect allows the admin to simply drag-and-drop PDFs, Excel sheets, and Word docs from various department heads into the software, and it automatically compiles them into a single, beautifully paginated, instantly distributable digital binder.
