Civil Site Design (originally developed in Australia) operates as a fiercely aggressive, highly intelligent "Overlay Plugin" that directly attacks the massive complexity of AutoCAD Civil 3D. It recognized that Civil 3D is incredibly powerful, but terrifyingly slow and complex to actually use. Civil Site Design plugs directly into Civil 3D (or BricsCAD) and completely takes over the tedious tasks. Its signature feature is "String-Based Road Design." Civil 3D requires a complex "Corridor." Civil Site Design uses highly intuitive "Strings." You draw a simple polyline, click a button, and the software instantly generates the entire road, the intersections, the cul-de-sacs, and the massive earthwork grading in a fraction of the time it would take natively in Civil 3D. It is heavily renowned for its "Automated Pipe Network Design." Designing a massive gravity sewer system for a 500-home subdivision is a mathematical nightmare of slopes and cover depths. Civil Site Design's engine automatically drops the pipes into the 3D model, calculates the exact minimum legal slope, ensures the pipes never hit each other underground, and instantly generates the massive, complex "Profile Sheets" for the contractor to build it.
