Clustdoc completely ignores the standard "Project Management" approach to onboarding and attacks a completely different, massively painful bottleneck: "The Document Chase." For industries like Mortgage Lending, Accounting, and Real Estate, onboarding doesn't mean configuring software; it means securely collecting 40 highly sensitive PDF documents, IDs, and tax returns from a confused client. Its signature feature is the "Smart Client Portal." An accountant sends a Clustdoc link to a new client. The client logs in and sees exactly what they need to upload: "1. Driver's License. 2. W-2 Form. 3. Bank Statement." They take a photo of their ID with their phone, upload the PDFs, and electronically sign the engagement letter all within the same secure portal. Because it handles highly sensitive financial data, its "Security and Compliance" is incredibly rigid. It completely outlaws the terrifying practice of clients emailing unencrypted tax returns. All documents are uploaded into a GDPR and SOC2 compliant vault. Furthermore, it features an "Approval Engine"; if a client uploads a blurry photo of their ID, the manager clicks "Reject," and Clustdoc automatically emails the client asking them to re-upload a clearer photo.
