e-Builder

e-Builder (acquired by the massive hardware/software conglomerate Trimble) operates in a completely different stratosphere from the rest of the market. Procore and BuildingConnected are built for the General Contractor who is physically building the building. e-Builder is built exclusively for the "Owner" (the massive entity paying for the building). Its primary customers are massive university systems, state governments, and massive healthcare networks (e.g., a hospital system building a new $500 million cancer wing). These entities have entirely different bidding needs. They aren't bidding out the plumbing; they are running incredibly complex, highly regulated "Public RFP (Request for Proposal)" processes to select the massive General Contractor in the first place. Because it targets public and massive institutional entities, its bidding module is intensely focused on "Compliance and Transparency." If a state university is spending taxpayer money, the bidding process must be mathematically flawless. e-Builder creates highly secure, "Sealed Bid" environments. It physically locks the digital vault so that absolutely nobody (not even the university president) can see the incoming bids until the exact second the legal deadline expires, preventing massive corruption scandals.
