GeoHECRAS

GeoHECRAS (by CivilGEO) is a terrifyingly powerful, highly specialized "Water Resources and Hydraulic" engineering platform. The US Army Corps of Engineers created a free, legendary software called HEC-RAS to mathematically model how a river floods during a massive hurricane. GeoHECRAS took that clunky, ancient government software and wrapped it in a massive, modern, high-speed AutoCAD-like graphical interface. Its signature feature is its "Automated 2D Flood Mapping." In the past, an engineer had to manually draw tiny cross-sections across a massive river to predict a flood. GeoHECRAS allows the engineer to load a massive 3D terrain map of an entire city, input a terrifying "100-Year Rain Event," and click 'Run'. The software mathematically simulates millions of gallons of water rushing through the city streets, generating a stunning 2D heatmap showing exactly which houses will be underwater. It is absolutely vital for "Bridge Scour and Infrastructure Defense." When a massive highway bridge is built over a violent river, the water physically erodes the concrete pillars (scour). GeoHECRAS mathematically models the exact velocity of the water hitting the bridge piers, allowing DOT engineers to legally prove the bridge will not collapse during a catastrophic flood.
