Kintone

Kintone (built by the massive Japanese software titan Cybozu) approaches the market from a highly unique, deeply collaborative angle. While Camunda is built for hardcore programmers, Kintone is built explicitly for "Citizen Developers." It allows a complete non-technical manager to rapidly build a massive database, attach a workflow to it, and deploy it to their team in an afternoon. Its signature feature is the "Database App Builder." Most BPM tools require you to integrate with an external database. Kintone *is* the database. A logistics manager can drag-and-drop a few fields to create an "Inventory Tracking App," and then instantly attach a workflow rule: "If the stock drops below 10, automatically send an alert to purchasing." It heavily emphasizes internal corporate "Social Collaboration." In Kintone, every single record in the database (like a specific Purchase Order or a specific Client Profile) has a dedicated social chat thread attached directly to it. If the accounting team has a question about an invoice, they don't email the sales rep; they just @mention the rep directly on the invoice record inside Kintone, perfectly preserving the context of the conversation.
