Schick (CDR DICOM)

Schick (CDR DICOM software, by Dentsply Sirona) is an incredibly powerful, historically legendary titan that completely pioneered the digital sensor market. Before Schick, dentists used highly toxic physical film and chemical darkrooms. Schick engineered the first massive wave of digital sensors (Computed Dental Radiography). The accompanying CDR DICOM software is the absolute mathematical backbone that still runs in thousands of legacy practices, revered for its terrifying durability. Its signature feature is "The CMOS Mathematical Optimization." Schick sensors (specifically the Schick 33) possess physical CMOS chips that allow for dynamic, mathematical resolution changes. The CDR software interacts directly with the chip hardware. A dentist can take a single X-ray. If they need to see bone, they move a slider in the software. The software mathematically queries the raw data from the CMOS chip and completely re-renders the image to highlight bone, then re-renders it to highlight the tooth root, providing terrifyingly flexible diagnostics from one exposure.
