TestGorilla aggressively attacks the traditional resume-based hiring model, arguing that resumes are heavily biased and often entirely fabricated. Instead, TestGorilla advocates for "skills-based hiring." Before a recruiter ever looks at a candidate's name, gender, or educational background, the candidate is required to take a highly specific, 45-minute multi-disciplinary assessment. A hiring manager can build a custom assessment by stacking different pre-made modules together. For a marketing manager role, they might stack a "Google Analytics" test, an "Attention to Detail" cognitive test, and a "Culture Add" personality assessment into a single link. The software then ranks all 200 applicants on a leaderboard based entirely on their proven ability to execute the required skills. To prevent candidates from cheating, TestGorilla includes lightweight, unobtrusive proctoring. It takes periodic snapshots via the candidate's webcam (with permission) and locks the browser so the candidate cannot copy the questions or open ChatGPT in another tab, ensuring the skills demonstrated actually belong to the applicant.
