Viewpoint Spectrum / Vista

Viewpoint (acquired by the massive Trimble conglomerate) is the fiercely entrenched, highly rigorous titan of "Hardcore Construction Accounting." While Procore is loved by the young project manager on the job site, Viewpoint (specifically its Vista and Spectrum products) is the absolute, unquestioned weapon of choice for the terrified, cynical CFO sitting in the corporate office who demands absolute, mathematical financial perfection. Its signature feature is "Deep Union Payroll and Compliance." Normal ERP systems (like NetSuite) completely collapse when trying to process construction payroll. A worker might operate a crane in California on Tuesday (Union Local 12 rate), and drive a truck in Nevada on Thursday (Non-Union rate). Viewpoint possesses a terrifyingly complex mathematical payroll engine that calculates multi-state, multi-union, prevailing wage (Davis-Bacon) payroll automatically. It heavily dominates "Heavy Civil and Dirt Work." Building a skyscraper is one thing; building a 50-mile highway through a mountain is another. Viewpoint integrates deeply with Trimble's physical GPS hardware on bulldozers.
