Wordtune

Wordtune operates similarly to Grammarly and Quillbot, but it focuses heavily on sentence-level ideation. It exists primarily as a browser extension. When you highlight a sentence you just wrote in an email or a Google Doc, a small purple icon appears. Clicking it provides a dropdown list of ten different ways to rewrite that exact sentence. It excels at helping users find the right tone. If you write, "I need this report right now," you can highlight it and ask Wordtune to make it more "Casual" ("Hey, can you shoot that report over when you have a sec?") or more "Formal" ("Please provide the report at your earliest convenience"). It acts as a real-time thesaurus for entire concepts, not just single words. Because it was built by AI21 Labs—a direct competitor to OpenAI—it uses proprietary language models. It also includes reading features, allowing users to upload long PDF reports or YouTube links. The software will read the document or watch the video and provide a concise summary on the side of the screen, making it a dual-purpose tool for both writing output and information consumption.
